Today YB Tuan Nga Kor Ming, Minister of KPKT attended a Briefing on the Fire Service Act 1988 Act 341] Amendment 2025 to the Members of the House of Representatives in Parliament.
The Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) through the Department of Fire and Rescue Malaysia (JBPM) will present the Fire Service Act (Amendment) 2025 in the Malaysian Parliament at the First Meeting, Fourth Term, Fifteenth Parliament. (First Week Of March).
The Fire Service Act 1988 [Act 341] is an act to make the necessary provisions for JBPM to function effectively and efficiently, to protect lives and property from the risk of fire, emergencies and other related purposes.
The main focus of this amendments is to overcome issues and challenges relating to the management and regulation of the following:
i. Volunteer Fire Brigade (PBS);
ii. Fire Safety Consultant and Fire Safety Consulting Firm;
iii. Fire Safety Competent Person and Contractor;
iv. Fire Fighting Equipment or Fire Safety Fitting;
v. Training Providers and Instructors; and
vi. Private Fire Brigade.
Amendments to Act 341 are important to enable JBPM to continue to grow in line with the wishes of the Government in an effort to publicize fire service and ensure the safety of the citizens as well as the sustainability of the country through an approach to protecting lives and property from fire risks and emergencies.
