The Automatic Fire Monitoring System (AFMS) is a system that is connected to the main fire alarm panel at the designated premises with the AFMS control centre and then to the Operations Centre (PGO) of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM). The AFMS control centre is responsible for filtering all alarm signals received through direct confirmation with the premises before sending them to JBPM for follow-up action.
The fire extinguisher receipt (H13) was converted to a Barcode Sticker after the eFEIS system came into effect on 1 June 2013. The process for renewing the Fire Extinguisher Receipt is as follows:
i. Fire Extinguishers (APA) owners must bring the APA they want to renew or a new fire extinguisher to a fire extinguisher maintenance company that has registered with the eFEIS system. The list of companies that have registered with the eFEIS system can be consulted on the JBPM Portal.
ii. The fire extinguisher maintenance company (contractor) must bring the fire extinguisher and the letter filled out by the fire extinguisher owner to the nearest eFEIS center. There are 108 eFEIS centers throughout Malaysia.
iii. Officers at the eFEIS Center will review the application and ensure that the fire extinguisher is in good condition to obtain a barcode sticker. All data will be stored in the eFEIS system computerized and cannot be changed.
i. To extinguish a fire when it has just started
i. To put out small fires
iii. To prevent the fire from getting bigger
iv. To create an exit from the building if the path is blocked by fire.
APA needs to be maintained and brought in for inspection by the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) ONCE A YEAR. APA also needs to be 'RECHARGE' every time after use or when the needle on the pressure gauge is not in the green zone.
JBPM has determined that only qualified and registered contractors are allowed to carry out APA maintenance.
Yes, if the APA's life is still more than 6 months from the date of inspection. For example, if the APA was issued in December 2007 and the APA wants to be inspected in January 2017, then it is still valid because the APA's life is still 12 months, which will end in December 2017.
The contractor must place replacement APA if removing APA from the premises (the amount of replacement APA depends on the existing fire hazard).
