Fire Safety Tips
The following brief checklist of fire safety guidelines can help you prevent fires:
- It is recommended to install smoke detectors on every floor. Suitable locations are on the ceiling, in stairwells, bedrooms and living rooms.
- Make sure there are two emergency exits from each room and all residents know and have practiced using them.
- Never smoke while lying in bed, when you are sleepy, drunk or after taking medication that can cause drowsiness.
- Use a large, heavy cigarette ash container. Make sure cigarette butts are completely extinguished before throwing them away.
- Avoid making connections or overloading electrical circuits.
- Place matches and lighters in a high place out of reach of children.
- Containers containing flammable liquids should be stored in a safe place away from sources of fire and children.
- Do not leave candles burning unattended even for a moment and keep them away from children.
- It is recommended that you keep a dry powder or gas type fire extinguisher at home.
