FIRE SAFETY (SECTION)
SAFETY AND FIRE DIVISION
Objective
To set fire safety policies and ensure their implementation in accordance with relevant laws through:
- Enforce the Fire Services Act 1988 under the provisions of fire certification and fire hazard elimination.
- Updating the Fire Safety Division's regulations and instructions regarding fire certificates, fire hazard elimination, building certificates and licensing certificates to be more relevant to current needs.
- Ensure that passive and active system protection requirements in all premises meet the requirements in current legal provisions and codes of practice.
- Formulate regulatory requirements and standards in collaboration with domestic research agencies regarding the use of fire safety materials and installation systems.
- Assess and ensure fire safety installations comply with current regulations and standards.
- Cultivate fire safety awareness among all levels of society through relevant campaigns according to target groups.
Function
Functions of the Fire Safety Division through the branches under the Fire Safety Division
- Provide policies, instructions and implementation guidelines for the issuance of fire safety certificates.
- Review legal aspects related to Fire Safety Installation (FSE) requirements.
- Provide inspection and testing guidelines for PKK.
- Monitor the implementation of the issuance of safety certificates.
- Setting the policy and requirements for the implementation of Performance Based or Fire Safety Engineering Approach.
- Reviewing the latest aspects of PKK technology and its use.
- Provide policies, instructions and implementation guidelines for the issuance of licensing certificates.
- Monitor the implementation of the issuance of building licensing certificates in accordance with the guidelines and Standing Orders of the Director General that have been prepared.
- Provide policies and instructions related to the implementation of fire hazard elimination.
- Prepare annual and 5-year fire hazard elimination strategic plans.
- Reviewing legal requirements in implementing fire hazard elimination.
- Provide inspection guidelines for premises or buildings.
- Study the effectiveness of fire hazard elimination in reducing the number of fires.
- Monitor the implementation of fire hazard elimination in accordance with the guidelines and Standing Orders of the Director General that have been prepared.
- Manage and coordinate public complaints regarding fire hazards.
- Provide policies and instructions related to the implementation of fire certification.
- Review legal requirements in implementing fire certification.
- Provide inspection guidelines for designated premises or buildings.
- Monitor the effectiveness of fire certification in reducing the number of fires.
- Monitor the implementation of fire certification according to the guidelines and Standing Orders of the Director General that have been prepared.
- Establish rules and guidelines for registration applications.

- Carry out registration based on the established rules and guidelines.
- Collect and analyze registration statistical data for the purpose of preparing the annual Fire Safety Registration strategic plan.
- Monitor the implementation of the e-FEIS System.
- Provide annual and 5-year national fire safety and water safety program policies and strategic plans.
- Collect and analyze training needs information.
- Determine department training needs for Community Firefighters, 3K Clubs, Fire Squads, SURI, 1RAPI, Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the public.
- Design and implement fire safety and water safety awareness programs.
- Monitor the implementation of fire safety and water safety awareness programs.
- Submitting proposals to the Malaysian Standards Department regarding the need to draft a standard.
- Manage the formulation and use of standards related to fire safety in Malaysia.
- Monitor the use and compliance with standards related to fire safety in buildings.
Customer Charter
Our commitment is to ensure that all premises are protected from fire risks.
With that we promise to:
- Process the technical plan within fourteen (14) working days from the date the complete application is received.
- Issuing Fire Safety Certificates for G8 and G9 production within five (5) working days from the date of inspection provided that all fire safety installations are functional and documents have been completed.
- Process complete licensing applications within 7 days from the date of receipt.
- Issuing a Fire Certificate within five (5) days from the date the fee payment is made.
