Fire Safety Tips

The following brief checklist of fire safety guidelines can help you prevent fires:

  1. It is recommended to install smoke detectors on every floor. Suitable locations are on the ceiling, in stairwells, bedrooms and living rooms.
  2. Make sure there are two emergency exits from each room and all residents know and have practiced using them.
  3. Never smoke while lying in bed, when you are sleepy, drunk or after taking medication that can cause drowsiness.
  4. Use a large, heavy cigarette ash container. Make sure cigarette butts are completely extinguished before throwing them away.
  5. Avoid making connections or overloading electrical circuits.
  6. Place matches and lighters in a high place out of reach of children.
  7. Containers containing flammable liquids should be stored in a safe place away from sources of fire and children.
  8. Do not leave candles burning unattended even for a moment and keep them away from children.
  9. It is recommended that you keep a dry powder or gas type fire extinguisher at home.
