8.5.2024: The Operations Center (PGO), Kedah State JBPM received a call via the MERS999 line at 6.02 pm regarding a stray incident in Gunung Keriang, Alor Setar, Kedah.
Acting on information, the Alor Setar BBP Fire Department team of 11 people was mobilized to the location of the incident along with FRT machinery, EMRS Unit vehicles and 3 RIM Unit motorcycles led by PBT II Noor Syakirah binti Mohd Rosli as soon as the call was received.
According to PgKB I Ahmad Aminudin bin Abd Rahim as the Senior Operations Commander, initial information received upon arrival at the location was that there were 3 teenagers who had gotten lost in the mountain area, namely a 19-year-old man and a 14- and 17-year-old girl.
The Fire Department has responded by conducting search and rescue (SAR) operations around the mountain area.
The victim was eventually found safe and was taken out using a rescue rope with the assistance of the Malim Gunung Perhutanan (MGP).
All victims were then taken to the hospital by an EMRS Unit vehicle as soon as they were brought down to the foot of the mountain.
In the incident, one of the MGPs who participated in the rescue operation suffered a leg injury.
The victim was taken to the hospital by a MOH ambulance. Upon completion, the operation was completely terminated at 3.28 am, 9 May 2024.
