Sabah JBPM FIRE AXE Team wins Sabah Public Sector Innovation Award (iSAS) 2020 (ICT Innovation and Cultivation Category – External Clients)
15 February 2021 – The FIRE AXE innovation team has won the Sabah Public Sector Innovation Award (iSAS) 2020: Federal Agency (ICT Cultivation Category – External Clients) through the MyPiliBOMBA Project. The competition for the category involved the participation of dozens of federal agencies and from the participation, only the Sabah State Fire and Rescue Department (FIRE AXE) together with Queen Elizabeth Hospital 1 and the Sabah State Education Department were shortlisted for a presentation and question and answer session with the jury panel on 3 February 2021.
The Sabah Public Sector Innovation Awards (iSAS) 2020 ceremony was officiated by YAB Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji bin Haji Noor, Chief Minister of Sabah. FIRE AXE took home the award trophy, cash prize of RM3,000.00 and a certificate of participation. The competition was held with the excellent implementation of the new norms by the organizers through a presentation and question and answer session held online.
The MyPiliBOMBA system was developed in-house (In-House Development) through the expertise of a team of officers, members and information technology officers of the Sabah JBPM with minimal cost to support firefighting operations. This system has greatly assisted in the detection of fire hydrants in fire areas and indirectly can reduce public property losses due to fires. In addition, urban or district development planning can be coordinated with fire hydrant planning according to suitability and strategy including fire hydrant maintenance. This is an effort towards service transformation so that it can be implemented more quickly and easily through ICT Technology.
