OPENING CEREMONY OF THE CLOSING OF THE RURAL EMERGENCY DISASTER EXERCISE (REDEX) KINTA 2024

Ipoh, 30 October 2024 – The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department of Perak in collaboration with the Air Division, the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department organized the Closing Ceremony of the Rural Emergency Disaster Exercise (REDEX) Kinta 2024 located in Tanjung Rambutan, Perak. This ceremony was officiated by Yang Amat Setia Dato' Ir. Ts. Ahmad Izram bin Osman, Deputy Director General (Operations), the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department at 12.30 pm.

The exercise, which took place from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., aimed to test and strengthen the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) as well as the smoothness of the communication and coordination system between disaster management agencies. This activity also played a role in increasing public awareness and community preparedness in facing any potential disaster.

The simulation involved 600 participants, including local residents and 18 major disaster management agencies, including the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), the Health Department, the Welfare Department, the Information Department, and the Kinta District Office. Each agency involved was given a certificate of appreciation for their contribution and dedication in ensuring the smooth running of the exercise.

This event not only strengthens the preparedness of each agency in dealing with any possible disaster but also unites the community and disaster management agencies in a joint effort to ensure the safety and well-being of the people. The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department hopes that this training can continue to be implemented to improve the level of preparedness and effectiveness of disaster management throughout the country.
